Because delivery driving gives me so much free time.

Hmmm. I wonder if Howard Charles does any comic conventions....

Fanime 2015: Dalek Daenerys Targaryen and the House from Up!

Concept: The Nerf Wartanks blended with Daenerys Targaryen from Game of Thrones and the House from Pixar's animated movie Up!.

SHMarticus

Concept: The school mascot at San Jose State University is the Spartan. The logo for the Animation Illustration club is the ShrunkenHeadman (of the ShrunkenHeadman Club, no less!). I blended the two for the costume exhibition Halloween 2014.

This Was a fairly quick project, it only took me two days, so there are no production pictures. Just a cool roar shot after the break!

Note: The Xacto-Knife spear is also made from a foam noodle. And bent floppily right before the costume contest, which is why I'm holding it up high.

BostonCon 2014: Game Of Thrones Iron Throne Armor

Concept: The Iron Throne from the Game of Thrones (based on the HBO television show)

The Original Daleks

Concept: Personal Nerf Warfare Tanks, designed as crossover Doctor Who Daleks and Other Characters (First two, Hawkeye and Deadpool)

Inspiration: Originally when my roommates ambushed my other roommate and I with Nerf guns, I was just going to build simplistic Nerf tanks to show those peeps what was what. Of course, Avengers having recently been released and my obsession with Hawkeye solidified, I decided quickly that the tanks should be character themed. I would take Hawkeye, and my roommate would have his obsession realized in Deadpool, both characters from the Marvel universe of comics and movies.

While starting to build I was home frequently during midday, so my design time was often done whilst watching Doctor Who marathons on the BBC, so naturally the ideas blended together with what seemed to be the perfect personal tank-like creature around, the eternally creepy Daleks.

As shown in the picture I made two Tardis shields as well for the roommates we were surprising with our tank ambush. I'm not heartless, after all.

Intro

Hi Peeps!

This is a new blog where I'm going to be posting a lot of my duct-tape projects; everything from the Dalek hybrids to the themed armor sets that I usually don for paintball, nerf warfare, and of course ComicCons! Other statue work and items will probably be interspersed.

A bit of backstory, but not much: I got into duct-tape armor and creations back in middle school, where through high school I mostly mucked about with similarly interested peers and made costume pieces for school projects and plays. Later I took a step back into regular costume designing, though although I enjoy sewing, I couldn't really get the armor bug out of my system. And, since metalworking isn't the most casual of interests to pursue, I returned to tape and cardboard. Not to mention that as a color-loving magpie the new tapes available for buying attract me like a moth to flame.

Most of my designs are influenced by characters from fandoms that my nerdy ass is obsessed with. Comments and suggestions are always welcome, flames will be doused or ignored (I enjoy warm environments). I'll be posting my old projects up soon, and then it's on to keeping things up to date with the new stuff.

See you around the 'Cons!
